After Sappho

by Selby Wynn Schwartz (Author)

After Sappho is an imaginative debut novel celebrating pioneering women who challenged societal expectations and forged their own identities. Inspired by the ancient Greek poet Sappho, the story follows a diverse group of women in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as they pursue art, writing, education, and personal freedom. Told through lyrical, interconnected vignettes, Schwartz explores creativity, queer identity, and the courage to claim an independent life. Luminous and inventive, After Sappho is a moving meditation on female solidarity, self-discovery, and the trailblazers who reshaped history.
